Scots UFC star Chris Duncan hopes to return to winning ways with victory in Paris

Stirling UFC star Chris Duncan is hoping to put his last fight firmly in his rear view mirror and bounce back to winning ways this weekend.

The lightweight, originally from Strathyre, returns to the octagon tomorrow night (Saturday) in Paris when he takes on Belgium’s Bolaji Oki.

The fight takes place as part of the UFC Fight Night event.

In Duncan’s last outing, he slipped to a defeat after being submitted by Mexican scrapper Manuel Torres back in February.

Now the 31-year-old wants to forget about that loss and fire himself back into the win column in dominant fashion in the French capital.

Speaking ahead of the bout this week, Duncan welcomed the chance to fight slightly closer to home, with his last fight taking place in Mexico City.

“It’s great to be back and it’s great to be close to home as well”, Duncan said.

“I was at American Top Team for a training camp and flew home for a few days and got in a routine.”

Reflecting on his February loss, Duncan gave an honest assessment of that showing, saying: “I made a couple of mistakes in my last fight. I went in with an injury that maybe I shouldn’t have went in with, it was quite a serious one, but that’s the game we play and the cards we’re dealt and psychologically I was a little bit complacent. That will never happen again.

“I’m willing and ready to get back in there and when I think about the fight (against Manuel Torres) back when I fought him, I was a bit upset about it and I would take big deep breaths any time I thought about it, but time heals and I’ve rectified all the bad things that have happened and I’m ready to get in there and show the real Chris Duncan.

“The path to victory doesn’t mean much to me – but the victory does.”
