Aiden McGeady leaves Ayr United as former Celtic and Hibs star rips up deal with Scott Brown's team
Aiden McGeady has terminated his contract with Ayr United.
The 38-year-old has not played for Scott Brown’s table toppers this season and the former Celtic and Republic of Ireland player has now come to an agreement to rip up his Somerset Park deal. A club statement read: "Ayr United can confirm that Aiden McGeady has left the club by mutual agreement. The club would like to thank Aiden for his contribution since joining in July 2023 and wish him the best for his future."
McGeady moved to Ayr from Hibs last year. He has previously had permanent spells at Everton, Spartak Moscow and Sunderland. Ayr have also allowed goalkeeper Robbie Mutch to join Stranraer on loan until January.
