AFC Bournemouth battling Tottenham and Southampton for 19-year-old

Bournemouth are battling to try and sign Nico Lawrence from Glebe FC in non-league despite interest from both Southampton and Tottenham, as reported by Hampshire Live.

The Cherries have invested plenty into their squad over the last transfer window, bringing in a total of five new players come the close of business on deadline day alone. The squad are now well-equipped to try and push for promotion but it appears as though their business is not done.

That’s because Bournemouth are now eyeing a deal for a young talent who currently plies his trade in non-league called Nico Lawrence. The 19-year-old has caught the eye with his displays for Glebe FC and there are already several teams queueing up to try and sign him.

The Cherries are one of these teams but they are so far losing out in their battle to bring him to the Vitality Stadium. With Southampton having already brought him in to play for them on a trial basis, it’s the Saints who have the upper hand. Throw in the fact that Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the situation and it won’t be easy for Scott Parker’s side to convince him to join up with them.

Southampton have yet to offer the player proper terms and he remains there on a trial basis but if the Saints decide they don’t want to pursue a deal or the trial ends, the Cherries could pounce. If they do, then they will be able to more easily run the rule over Lawrence and decide if the 19-year-old is worth gambling on.

It’s always good to see teams looking into non-league, as there can often be diamonds in the rough there that are just looking for a break.
