AEW Double Or Nothing: Owen Hart Foundation Cup winners confirmed

Double Or Nothing saw the finals of both the men’s and women’s brackets of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament where the trophy and awards would be presented to the winners by Dr Martha Hart. 

The two finals consisted of Adam Cole vs Samoa Joe in the men’s bracket and Dr Britt Baker D.M.D vs Ruby Soho in the women’s. 

Firstly we had the men’s final where Samoa Joe and Adam Cole would meet one-on-one for the first time ever. Since his arrival in ROH and AEW, Samoa Joe has been dominant, sporting a perfect record as well as holding the ROH World TV Championship, the Samoan Submission Machine was out to add the inaugural Owen Hart Cup to his long list of accolades. 

Adam Cole was looking to get his first accolade in AEW, having only lost twice in singles competition, both to former AEW World Champion Adam Page, Cole has one of the strongest records in the company. 

Joe was the one who came out the gate quicker, utilising his unique skill set which blends both speed and power. This grounded Cole for the majority of the opening moments of the bout. 

However, Cole would soon shift the momentum into his favour and target the injured left shoulder of Joe which was previously targetted by Cole’s Undisputed Elite teammate Kyle O’Reilly in the semi-finals. 

In the closing moments, a distraction from Undisputed Elite’s Bobby Fish allowed Cole to take advantage and hit Joe with the BOOM securing the victory and winning the men’s bracket. 

Straight after this match was the women’s final where Ruby Soho was out for redemption, looking to avenge the loss that has alluded her throughout her AEW career thus far, whereas Baker was looking to make even more history in AEW by securing the inaugural Owen Hart Cup.
