Adam Thomas shares 'grateful' health update after 'struggling to walk'

Adam Thomas announced "never thought I would be where I am today" as he shared a health update with his fans after struggling with arthritis.

The former Emmerdale star was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2023 at 34-years-old. It's an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain, swelling and stiffness. Although there is no "cure", medicine helps to manage symptoms.

Adam developed the disease while training for a Hyrox competition where he got a severe knee injury that left him unable to walk for weeks. Hyrox is an intense cardio workout that starts with a 1km run followed by eight tough exercises.

His diagnosis came at the time it was revealed that he would be participating in the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing where he was partnered with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk. They were eliminated in week 7, meaning they finished in ninth place overall.

After appearing on This Morning earlier this month, the Waterloo Road star admitted he felt "mentally drained" due to the long process of getting a diagnosis. He also shared: "I was in so much pain and nobody was really giving me any answers". He originally thought he had broken something, admitting that "the pain was so severe".

It wasn't until he went for blood tests that revealed he had inflammation around his joints that he was finally diagnosed with the autoimmune disease.

Since his diagnosis, Adam has openly discussed his health with fans and has continued to update them while on his journey. Taking to his Instagram on Tuesday (28th January), Adam posted a photo of him beaming and added: "Never thought I would be where I am today!! But am grateful for the journey let's gooo!!!"

He continued: "F**k you arthritis I've got you now!! You thought you could break me
