Aberdeen FC problems shared by Hibs as basketball style draw does little to ease top six struggles - 3 talking points

Aberdeen and Hibernian played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Pittodrie in a game where both teams' continuous struggles this season were laid bare for all to see.

Hibs found themselves in front on 13 minutes when Martin Boyle rounded Kelle Roos to net the opener after the visitors had capitalised on a woeful clearance from the Dutch stopper. However the Dons got themselves back on level terms just two minutes later when Bojan Miovski connected well with a volley at the back post and although his effort was kept out by David Marshall, Nicky Devlin was on hand to tap home the equaliser.

That goal gave Neil Warnock's men the impetus to take the game to the Hibees, with Jack MacKenzie forcing a decent save from Marshall after making an opening for himself before Leighton Clarkson saw his stab at goal come back off the crossbar after meeting Miovski's cut back.

The home side's good work continued after the break, and within five minutes they completed the turnaround. Luis Duk Lopes and Clarkson's combined well down the left and after some hesitant defending from Hibs duo Will Fish and Nectarios Triantis, Jamie McGrath was allowed to compose himself and slot the ball into the bottom corner.

Hibs gradually got back into the game and some slack play from the Dons at the opposite end of the field saw them gifted a goal to make it 2-2. Joe Newell raced into the box, and following a meek attempt to intervene by Devlin, he was able to pick out substitute Emiliano Marcondes to side-foot the ball home past the helpless Roos.

Both sides had chances to go out and claim all three points, with Miovski's failure to get more on Mackenzie's cross the pick of the bunch. But the game ended in a stalemate leaving Warnock's Dons and Nick
