Aaron Ramsey is peak Rangers deflection tactics and he's just another Thomas Gravesen - Hotline

The transfer deadline day recruitment of Aaron Ramsey by Rangers has upped the ante ahead of the Old Firm showdown at Celtic Park.

Opinion is split over the recruitment of the Welsh star but sporting director Ross Wilson was flavour of the month for engineering the signing coup.

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus , said: "I think the best bit of business that Rangers ever did was sign up Ross Wilson, the guy's work is second to none, he gets deals through that seem impossible."

John Davidson, Armadale, said: "This transfer deadline day will be remembered for the biggest coup ever as Rangers signed a world class player in Ramsey. Pundits can't believe it, but Wilson is a God. Behind the scenes he's been working on it for a week and here's hoping it changes our fortunes."

John Bruce, emailed: "Having had their fingers burned after signing injury prone James McCarthy on a four year deal and spending £5m on a goalkeeper who can't make saves, it's understandable why Celtic opted to scour the loan market for bargains and bring in so many players on loan. Rangers chose quality over quantity and they have rocked Scottish football by bringing in a top quality player in Ramsey, a signing that eclipses £20m Amad Diallo, who joined last week. These two signings are a real statement of intent and Wednesday night has just become a whole lot more interesting."

Paul Jenkins, Shieldhall, said: "Celtic’s two best players are loanees in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota but Ramsey and Amad Diallo are on a whole different level. Rangers should be applauded for having the foresight and ambition to bring these two here and raise the profile of SPFL. Every club will benefit through the turnstiles, sponsors and TV money."
