Aaron Ramsey assesses Rangers debut as he lifts the lid on Ibrox progression plan to 'really get going'

Rangers debutant Aaron Ramsey hopes to ramp up his return to match fitness after coming off the bench against Hearts.

There was an electric atmosphere at Ibrox as the Juventus loanee came off the bench in the second half of the 5-0 rout.

The Welshman admits he was desperate to come off the bench and was trying to catch Gio van Bronckhorst 's eye during his touchline warm-up.

Ramsey said: "It was a good one to come in on. The boys did really well and I'm happy to make my debut in front of that atmosphere.

"Hopefully now I can play a lot more and get my fitness up quickly and really get going here.

"There is a lot of talent in this team and they showed that a few times, and scored some fantastic goals. Hopefully I can fit right in.

"I was itching to get on, and kept looking over because the warm-up was going on a bit (laughs).

"It's good to get some minutes in the legs."

With Rangers taking on Hibs, Annan and Borussia Dortmund over an eight-day period, Ramsey stated there are plans in place to allow him to ramp up his game time.

He continued: "We've got a brief plan of how we are going to do that. It was the plan today to get some minutes in the legs, 15-20 minutes.

"It's good to be back out there. I haven't played a lot of football, I think the last one was November, so it's good to be back out on the pitch.

"Hopefully now we can progress nicely."

When asked if the plan was to increase the minutes going forward, he added: "Yes, I think so.

"There are so many games coming up, so there are a lot of opportunities there to get some minutes in."
