A577 Manchester Road in Tyldesley closed due to crash – latest updates

A road traffic collision on Manchester Road in Tyldesley to the west of Manchester has led to its closure in both directions in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident is thought to have occurred on the A577 in the area close to the junction with Unsworth Street in the town. Police are reported to be at the scene and Transport for Greater Manchester are advising people in the area to use the A580 East Lancashire Road and A579 Atherleigh Way as an alternative route.

TGM are stating that this closure is likely to be in place for some time and may affect local bus routes. It posted the information on Twitter this (Saturday) morning at 3:58. The Inrix live traffic and travel database issued similar information, stating: "A577 Manchester Road, Tyldesley, both directions, Greater Manchester – A577 Manchester Road in both directions closed due to accident from Upton Lane to Maesbrook Drive."
