A57 to be closed into Monday morning after serious crash at Mottram moor - latest updates
The A57 is closed in both directions after a serious crash at Mottram Moor late on Sunday night. The road is shut to traffic between the BB6174 and the A628 near Mottram in Longdendale.
The road is expected to be closed for several hours due to the severity of the incident, with Greater Manchester Police at the scene. A serious collision investigation will be required due to the nature of the accident, say National Highways.
The closure has been in place since around 11.20pm. Members of the public are being urged to seek an alternative route, so expect a build-up of traffic in the surrounding areas.

The A57 in Greater Manchester has been closed in both directions between the B6174 Market Street in Mottram in Longdendale and the A628 at the Gun Inn junction in Hollingworth due to a serious collision at Mottram Moor.
Greater Manchester Police are leading the incident response and advise the road will closed for a protracted period due to the severity of the collision and subsequent investigation work.
Traffic is being diverted via local routes.
