A56 Chester Road closed due to 'police incident' - latest updates

A stretch of the A56 Chester Road in Greater Manchester has been closed in both directions as a result of what is being described as a "police incident".

The road in Stretford has been closed in both directions during the early hours of the morning from the A5145 Kingsway to Davyhulme Road East.

The reason given for the closure is a "police incident" but the nature of the incident has not yet been divulged.

An update from the traffic monitoring service Inrix at 3.10am said: "A56 Chester Road in both directions closed due to police incident from A5145 Kingsway to Davyhulme Road East."
