8 Ryan Kent 'type' Rangers transfer options as Michael Beale wants a winger to turbo charge rebuild

Michael Beale’s admission that he was on the lookout for “someone like Ryan Kent” might not have hugely excited Rangers fans given that they had long since become disillusioned with the winger’s performances before accepting that the was going to be departing Ibrox.

But if Beale is talking about finding someone in the mould of Kent in his Gers prime then that might be a bit different. The former Liverpool man certainly was a player who could shine on the big occasions and had a key role in the Steven Gerrard title-winning season.

There is an obsession with statistical analysis in data-driven modern-day football and during his his four years at Ibrox, Kent’s numbers were often criticised. But there is no doubting the fact that he could occupy defenders and there seems to be a lack of that in the Rangers side just now, with pace and width the one thing fans seem to be crying out for. Abdallah Sima looked like he could be that man but hasn’t shown it so far, albeit it is very early days in the Brighton loan man’s career in Glasgow.

Beale admitted at the end of last week: “The one area we’re probably a little bit light is someone like a Ryan Kent. Whether we’ll get there between now and the end of the window, or do we find that within in our squad? Time will tell.” But just who could fit that mould?
