6 burning Celtic transfer questions remaining after deadline day as Brendan Rodgers admission rings true on recruits

Celtic made nine new signings this summer, but some questions still remain over Brendan Rodgers squad after the window slammed shut.

The Irishman didn't have it easy in the days and weeks after arriving for his second spell in Glasgow, being first hit with the news of losing Jota to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia for a money-spinning £25million before regular centre-half Carl Starfelt upped sticks for Celta Vigo. Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio began the signing trend with the latter yet to be seen, before a South Korean duo of Yang and Kwon arrived. Rodgers then moved to address an impending defensive crisis with Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke brought in.

But in the final week of the window Celtic did recruit with haste. Experienced Liverpool defender Nat Phillips penned a six-month loan while Aris winger Luis Palma, who had reported interest from Rangers, sealed a £3.5million move to Glasgow. Deadline day brought just one recruit, Paulo Bernardo on loan from Benfica. Where does Rodgers now stand with his squad heading in to the business end of the season? By his own admission he wanted more, but in what areas? Record Sport took a look at the transfer questions lingering over his squad.

Starting at the back and this is one Celtic fans wanted to see bolstered. Joe Hart is the number one, but some shaky showings have Parkhead fanatics looking for new faces between the sticks. Dominik Livakovic lit up the forum pages when he was touted, but nothing materialised. Kasper Schmeichel, a player known to Rodgers, was made available at the eleventh hour and isn't yet snapped up. It remains to be seen the futures of Scott Bain and Benji Siegrist but it leaves number one questions in the air.
