4 most expensive Hibs transfer flops as Easter Road side cut Chris Mueller loose

Hibs are currently on the look out for their third manager within one season, but there may be reshuffle in players too.

Winger Chris Mueller has already departed Easter Road after just four months at the club.

The American has returned to him home town to play for MLS club Chicago Fire.

Mueller - who was tipped to star at Hibs under Shaun Maloney- picked up a hefty wage during his time a Hibs with a weekly salary of £10,000.

But just six starts during his time at the Premiership club, the winger has moved on less than half a season into a three and a half year deal.

Some have gone so far to say that the American is the biggest singing flop in the club's 147 year history.

But he is not the only costly player who hasn't quite clicked at Hibs.

Record Sport looked into some other known names that didn't seem to work out...

Chris Mueller has ended his deal prematurely after things did not seem to work out at Hibs.

The winger has managed just six starts and one goal for the club over a total of 15 appearances during his four month spell at Easter Road.

His only goal for the club came in the Scottish Cup against Arbroath as he struggled to adapt to the Scottish game.

During that time, he has been paid a breath-taking reported £10,000 per week - with a salary bill of £160,000.

Despite hopes that the winger would play a key part in Shaun Maloney's side after arriving in January, Hibs Cheif Executive Ben Kensell has admitted that Scottish football's "pace and physicality" was too much for the former Orlando City star.

Hibernian reportedly paid Stockport £338,000 for Scottish defender in the year 2000.

However, injury and competition for places restricted his opportunities during his time at Easter Road.
