Lucas Digne injury update after Steven Gerrard comments on Aston Villa star
Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury while on international duty with France.
Digne picked up his injury after only 12 minutes of the Premier League clash with West Ham United in the weekend before last. The left-back has been a key player for Steven Gerrard since he was signed from Everton for £25 million in January and Digne's injury has left Villa in a tricky situation with Matt Targett deciding to leave on loan for Newcastle United.
France have friendly fixtures with the Ivory Coast and South Africa on Friday and Tuesday respectively as they continue their preparations for the World Cup in Qatar later this year. Digne had played every game for Villa until his injury and that has left Gerrard turning to the veteran Ashley Young to play out of position at left-back.
