2 transfer developments we could see emerge at Sheffield Wednesday as the summer window looms

Sheffield Wednesday are finding form at just the right time as Darren Moore’s men look to secure a return to the Championship.

A run of seven wins in eight games has seen the Owls fire into the play-off places and they are well positioned as we approach the crucial period of the campaign.

Whilst the main focus for the boss is going to be the next few months, he will also have one eye on the future, and it’s sure to be a very important summer at Hillsborough, no matter what division the side are in.

Here we look at TWO transfer developments that could play out ahead of next season…

An uncertain future for out of contract players

You would imagine that this will depend on what league Wednesday are in, but they have plenty of key players out of contract in the summer that will need their future sorting.

The likes of Sam Hutchinson, Massimo Luongo, Chey Dunkley and Callum Paterson see their deals expire in the coming months and it will be interesting to see where they end up.

In a few cases, Wednesday will want to keep the players, but they are running a risk of losing them as other offers may be tabled to the individuals.

Whether Wednesday buy loan players

There will be similar discussions over the many players who are on loan with the Owls this season.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jordan Storey, Harlee Dean, Lewis Gibson and Florian Kamberi are just some of the players who are on loan. Again, this will be a complex situation, as the Owls will need to be able to agree fees with the buying clubs in certain cases and it has to be financially viable.

So, there will be some big calls to make and it will be interesting to see what happens.
