15 Manchester United players set to return to training

Manchester United are due to welcome back 15 international players over the next week ahead of leaving for their pre-season tour of the United States.

United started pre-season training last week with players not on international duty in June and academy players to offset the absence of senior squad members.

New signing Mason Mount participated in United's first sessions as he was unavailable for England's European Championship qualifying wins over Malta and North Macedonia through injury.

Those who were involved in last month's internationals were entitled to a three-week break before reporting back at their clubs.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Elanga, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Facundo Pellistri, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly were called up by their national sides.

The aforementioned 15 players will not be involved in United's first pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Oslo on Wednesday but will travel with the squad to Edinburgh for their match with Lyon on July 18.

United will fly straight from Edinburgh to New York ahead of their first friendly across the Atlantic against Arsenal.

It is unclear if United manager Erik ten Hag will include players United intend to sell in his travelling squad when the club have stressed the need to obtain funds from sales to reinvest into the squad.

Bailly and Telles are regarded as must-sells as they are both out of contract next year and will not have the one-year extensions on their deals triggered if they are still at United beyond January.
