It’s in the Gines: Former EWC champion hoping 24-hour dream will come true with Wojcik

Mathieu Gines is all set for a super-sub role in this season’s FIM Endurance World Championship – and hopes his 24-hour dream will come true in the process. The former FIM EWC champion and triple French Superbike title winner has joined forces with Wójcik Racing Team for the 24 Heures Motos and Bol d’Or, two day and night and night races he’s yet to win. He’s set to join Christoffer Bergman in deputising for Randy Krummenacher and Dan Linfoot on the Polish squad’s Formula EWC #77 Yamaha R1, which will also be ridden by Sheridan Morais as its blue rider.

Five-time Supersport world champion Kenan Sofuoglu is backing Rodi Pak to shine when the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship fires up at Le Mans next month. The captain of the Turkish National Team of riders competing in various international categories has followed Pak’s development closely and reckons his protégé will impress for the Pitlane Endurance – JP3 outfit. “This is the first time a Turkish rider is attending EWC officially and we are very proud that Rodi Pak is racing in this category,” Sofuoglu said.

Marc Marquez out of Indonesian MotoGP after horror warm-up crash

Marc Marquez is out of Sunday's Indonesian Grand Prix after a horror crash in the final morning warm-up. Marquez was catapulted from his bike on turn seven just before the end of Sunday morning's 20-minute session at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. Marquez's Honda cartwheeled end-over-end as it disintegrated and the Spaniard appeared to land heavily on his left arm at approximately 180kph (110mph).

World champion swimmer Camille Lacourt confirmed as starter of EWC opener

Camille Lacourt, a five-time swimming world champion, will officially signal the start of the 24 Heures Motos, round one of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship, having been named Starter of the Race. And to get an early taste of the EWC and the Circuit Le Mans Bugatti, Lacourt was treated to several laps of the track as passenger to Damien Saulnier, Team Manager of Yoshimura SERT Motul, during the recent event launch press conference.

Organisers rev up for 100th anniversary, EWC-counting Bol d’Or with new teaser video

Organisers of the 100th anniversary Bol d’Or, round four of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship, have released a teaser video ahead of September’s landmark running of the famous day and night race. Taking place at Circuit Paul Ricard from 16-18 September, the event is one of three on the 2022 EWC calendar.

Wojcik team hoping Manfredi will be fit for EWC action

Top Superstock squad Wójcik Racing Team will “keep our fingers crossed” that Kevin Manfredi is fit to start the FIM Endurance World Championship season at Le Mans in April. Manfredi was injured in a crash during a MotoE test session with the Octo Pramac team at Jerez earlier this month.
