WWE, in what can only be described as a surprising call, has cancelled the Day 1 Premium Live Event. Earlier this year, the first-ever WWE Day 1 pay-per-view event took place, airing on January 1, 2022.
WWE had announced another show for New Year’s Day 2023, but reports now suggest that the show has been cancelled. For the second year in a row, the Royal Rumble was not going to be the first pay-per-view event of the year, with WWE Day 1 set to take place on January 1, 2023.
However, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics is reporting that WWE, despite previously advertising the show, has now cancelled WWE Day 1, meaning it won't take place, via WrestleTalk.
The report notes that WWE is not just postponing the show and rescheduling it to another date, with it being made clear that the show has been outright cancelled.
