WWE: Triple H cancels upcoming Premium Live Event

WWE, in what can only be described as a surprising call, has cancelled the Day 1 Premium Live Event.

Earlier this year, the first-ever WWE Day 1 pay-per-view event took place, airing on January 1, 2022.

WWE had announced another show for New Year’s Day 2023, but reports now suggest that the show has been cancelled.

For the second year in a row, the Royal Rumble was not going to be the first pay-per-view event of the year, with WWE Day 1 set to take place on January 1, 2023.

However, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics is reporting that WWE, despite previously advertising the show, has now cancelled WWE Day 1, meaning it won't take place, via WrestleTalk.

The report notes that WWE is not just postponing the show and rescheduling it to another date, with it being made clear that the show has been outright cancelled.

So that means that WWE will go two months without a pay-per-view event between Survivor Series on November 26 and the Royal Rumble on January 28.

In their report, Wrestlenomics didn't reveal the reason why Day 1 has been cancelled, but Dave Meltzer has provided some potential insight into the matter.

Dave Meltzer noted on Twitter that due to major football games taking place in Atlanta on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, there had been talk for weeks that the show could be moved.
