World Athletics Championships Highlights: Neeraj Chopra made history by clinching India's first-ever World Athletics Championships gold medal in the final of men's javelin event in Budapest.

The 88.17m on his second attempt proved to be the winner with 86.32m on his third, 84.64m on his fourth and 83.98m on his final attempt.

The quartet of Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh finished 5th in men's 4x400m relay race with a time of 2:59.92 minutes.

The hunt for the 90-meter throw goes on as Neeraj fell a little short of the mark in the World Athletics Championships 2023 despite clinching the elusive Gold medal. After starting off the final with a foul throw, Neeraj made amends in the following throws, but could only manage the maximum distance of 88.17 meters in his second attempt. Though the effort was good enough to keep his lead intact till the very end to clinch the gold, Neeraj remains unsatisfied with the throw, although elated with the fact that he was able to add another medal to his trophy cabinet.
At the recently concluded World Athletics Championships 2023, Indian Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra made history by giving the country its first-ever World Champion in athletics and 3000 m steeplechase racer Parul Chaudhary also established a new national record in her discipline with timings of 9:15.31 and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
