Wolverhampton Wanderers are at risk of being dragged into a relegation battle as Sasa Kalajdzic is set for a lengthy spell on the Molineux sidelines, according to journalist Dean Jones. The West Midlands side notched their first win since April when they overcame Southampton at the weekend, but they have suffered a major setback.
Wolves have confirmed that, having been substituted after feeling pain in his knee during the victory over Southampton, scans have shown Kalajdzic has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
It comes after head coach Bruno Lage threw the striker straight into his starting line-up, with Raul Jimenez also being unavailable.
Following the 15-cap Austria international’s debut setback, he is now set for an extensive spell on the sidelines. Kalajdzic only made the £15.5million switch to Molineux from German outfit Stuttgart a matter of days earlier as the transfer deadline neared.
