Why VAR did not overturn Nottingham Forest red card vs Manchester United

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean believes VAR was right not to overturn Nottingham Forest's red card at Old Trafford because there was too much doubt surrounding Willy Boly's covering position.

Joe Worrall saw red midway through the second half after he was adjudged to be the last man as United attacked. However, there was some uncertainty following Stuart Attwell's decision because Boly looked like he could have been covering his centre-back partner.

If Boly was deemed to be in a position to cover, Worrall would have been given a yellow card. VAR reviewed how close the Ivorian was and ultimately decided it was the right decision.

Speaking as a guest on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday, Dean explained exactly why the officials came to the correct decision to send the Forest man off. ALSO READ: Sporting director at United ahead of player exit He said: "Yeah that’s 100 per cent.
