Manchester’s Tom Aspinall faces the biggest test of his career so far when he faces Sergei Pavlovich for the UFC’s interim heavyweight title.
The Salford-born fighter steps in for defending champion Jon Jones, who pulled out of the Madison Square Garden event with a pectoral injury.
Having headlined two UFC London cards, it will be a very different experience for Aspinall as he takes to the Octagon in New York and it will be a huge step up in occasion for the 30-year-old.
Jones’ injury has accelerated Aspinall’s title aspirations, which he outlined in July to MEN following his winning comeback from a year-long knee injury lay-off.
