Manchester United and Manchester City's journeys in the domestic cup competitions will begin this week when the draw for the Carabao Cup third round is made.

United enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season, winning the League Cup at Wembley Stadium after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle.

The triumph was the sixth time the Reds have won the competition but was also the first trophy of the Erik ten Hag era. Meanwhile, City missed out on a quadruple after losing to Southampton in the quarter-final stages.

Pep Guardiola will be hopeful of adding the League Cup to his cabinet along with the Treble he won last season. Ahead of the draw, MEN Sport has taken a look at all you need to know about the Carabao Cup third round.
