Nursing a bruised ego after WTC final snub last month, Ravichandran Ashwin made the best possible comeback as his 33rd five-wicket haul put India in the driver's seat against a below-par West Indies on the first day of the opening Test, in Dominica on Wednesday.

Ashwin justified his top billing in ICC Test bowlers' ranking with figures of 5 for 60 in 24.3 overs to decimate West Indies for a lowly 150 in 64.3 overs with Ravindra Jadeja (3/26 in 14 overs) beautifully complementing him to make life miserable for the home team batters.

With more than an hour available for batting skipper Rohit Sharma (30 batting, 65 balls) and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal (40 batting, 73 balls) added 80 runs for the opening stand to bring down first innings deficit to 70 going into second day.

The new pair looked comfortable as there is not much help for the bowlers with Indian skipper hitting his customary 'Nataraja' pull-shot and soothing straight drive.

Kohli, however, did not bat in the chase as India won the match by five wickets. After the match, Kohli was seen having a chat with West Indies captain Shai Hope.
Kuldeep Yadav last played for the Indian cricket team against Australia in an ODI in March. After four months when he put on the India jersey again, there were no signs of any rust. In fact, he was devastating, to say the least. In just three overs, he took four wickets as West Indies folded at 114 in 23 overs. His four-wicket haul and Ravindra Jadeja's three-wicket haul formed the bedrock of India's convincing win against West Indies in the first match of the three-ODI series. Kuldeep's victims included West Indies captain Shai Hope, who was also the top-scorer with an innings of 43, Dominic Drakes, Yannic Cariah and Jayden Seales.
India went with Ishan Kishan for the first ODI against West Indies on Barbados on Thursday. That meant that the wicketkeeper-batter in the squad Sanju Samson had to warm  the bench. However, fans were in for a surprise when 'Samson' made an appearance on the field. However, it was actually Suryakumar Yadav who was wearing the jersey of Sanju Samson. Needless to say, fans had a field day while seeing the sight on social media.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has been receiving a lot of praise for his performance in the recently concluded two-match Test series against West Indies. The 36-year-old batter not only brought up his hundred in the first Test but also went on to smash a half-century in the second match. Though Team India failed to register a clean sweep as Day 5 of the second Test got washed out, they still managed to claim the series with 1-0 lead.
