WI vs IND, 1st ODI, Live Updates: Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field against West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series on Thursday in Bridgetown.

Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar will be making his debut for India in ODIs. India will look to use the series against the West Indies to test out a few players to finalise their combinations ahead of the Asia Cup, which will precede the ODI World Cup at home in October-November.

Suryakumar Yadav was back to his disdainful best as India stayed alive in the series with a seven-wicket win over the West Indies in the third T20I here on Tuesday. West Indies skipper Rovman Powell's whirlwind 40 not out off 19 balls pushed the hosts to 159 for five after Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs. Debutant Yashavi Jaiswal (1) and Shubman Gill (6) got out cheaply in run chase before Suryakumar came up with a special 83 off 44 balls to help India gun down the target in 17.5 overs. Tilak Varma (49 not out off 37) was happy to play second fiddle to his senior Mumbai Indians teammate in their 87-run stand. Tilak missed his second straight fifty in his debut series as skipper Hardik Pandya (20 not out off 15) hit the winning six.
India made some interesting changes going into the must-win match against West Indies in the third T20I of the five-match series. The hosts are leading the series 2-0 in the series and one more win will see them pocket the series. Going into the must-win encounter, India made two changes - Yashasvi Jaiswal replaced Ishan Kishan while Kuldeep Yadav came in for Ravi Bishnoi.
West Indies stunned Hardik Pandya-led India by four runs to bag the first T20I of the the five-match series on Thursday. Chasing a modest 150-run target at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, the tourists faltered and failed to make a comeback. Earlier, India put a good effort with the ball by restricting the West Indies at 149 for 6 in 20 overs. However, former India batter Aakash Chopra is not pleased with the captaincy of Hardik. He stated that the India captain "missed a trick" during their bowling against West Indies.
