Rashid Khan took the first hat-trick of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 but still could not guide Gujarat Titans to victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.

The star spinner from Afghanistan took the wickets of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur to complete the impressive milestone at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Russell went for a big shot but ended up edging it to wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha while Narine was caught in the deep as KKR tried to increase their run rate.

With Rashid on a hat-trick, he trapped Shardul LBW and although the visitors went for a review, the replays clearly showed that the bowl did not move much and was going to crash into the stumps..
