Mumbai Indians (MI)'s decision to release star all-rounder ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction didn't go exactly as planned as the five-time champions finished at the foot of the points table last season.

However, for Hardik, it turned out to be a blessing as he was drafted and named captain by one of the two new franchises -- Gujarat Titans.

Hardik repaid the trust shown by the management, leading the franchise to the IPL title in their maiden season. However, Hardik has revealed that the other new franchise -- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) -- also contacted him.

Since he knew that KL Rahul was going to lead LSG, Hardik said that he was tempted to play with his friend at the franchise. "I did get a call from the other franchise (Lucknow Super Giants) as well, which was a new franchise in IPL.

Lucknow Super Giants skipper and India batter KL Rahul has ruled himself out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season and the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. Rahul had sustained an injury against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1 (Monday). He will now undergo surgery. Rahul confirmed the development through a lengthy post on Instagram. In his absence, Krunal Pandya will take over the captaincy of the Lucknow franchise just the way he did against Chennai Super Kings in the team's last match.
Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul in all likelihood will take no further part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after sustaining a serious thigh injury during team's last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The PTI can also confirm that veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat's shoulder condition is serious and he too is ruled out of the IPL. It is understood that it will be a race against time for BCCI Sports Science & Medical Team to get the senior batter-keeper Rahul ready for World Test Championship final in London from June 7 to 11. Rahul injured his right thigh while sprinting towards boundary to a Faf du Plessis cover drive off Marcus Stoinis bowling.
The IPL 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow on Monday was witness to some ugly scenes as RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had a heated exchange. Throughout the match, Kohli could be seen being quite animated after the LSG wickets fell. The last time when LSG and RCB clashed in Bengaluru in an IPL 2023 game, Gambhir had gestured towards the Bengaluru crowd with a 'shut up' sign. It is not clear whether Virat was reacting to that. But after the match ended, the two shook hands and things looked perfectly normal. Then, LSG opener Kyle Mayers walked up to Kohli and started saying something to the RCB great.
Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan explained that his plan to play with an extra bowler was one of the major reasons for their 56-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Punjab Kings decided to bowl first with seven bowling options at their disposal. But in the end, they ended up conceding 257/5 runs. Punjab had several pace bowlers but they missed a spinner. "We gave away too many runs. I felt that it (ball) didn't come on quickly to the bat and it went straight to the fielder (on his dismissal). I felt my strategy to play with the extra bowler backfired. We missed a spinner today. It's a learning for me."
