Former Indian cricket team batter Aakash Chopra took a cheeky dig at Royal Challengers Bangalore with an interesting anecdote involving Virat Kohli's knock against Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2024 match on Friday.

Kohli scored his second consecutive half-century of the competition but it was not enough as the RCB bowling attack faltered under pressure against the explosive batting of Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer.

Chopra pointed out that while Kohli took 59 deliveries to score 83, KKR were off to a stunning start in the powerplay and ended up scoring 83 runs in 5.5 overs. "When Sunil Narine opens, the template is absolutely clear - 'Either I or you will not remain'.

He plays in that fashion, tries to hit sixes. Everyone knows that you need to repeatedly bowl bouncers and yorkers, but if you don't get success in that, just like Bengaluru didn't get in the first six overs, he takes the match far away from your grasp," he said during his analysis on YouTube. "Phil Salt was also there with him.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to complete its first four weeks with already several records being broken. Over 500 sixes have been scored while the top-three totals in IPL history has also been launched. Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth said he was hurt by watching the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowling performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a record-breaking IPL 2024 match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. On Monday night, RCB suffered their sixth defeat in seven games after losing to SRH by 25 runs, who managed a record for the highest total in IPL history with 287/3, beating their record of 277 set against the Mumbai Indians (MI) earlier in the season. Srikkanth took a dig at RCB, and advised them to play with all 11 batters, especially when they play at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Srikkanth also said that Virat Kohli could have bowled better than those who leaked 287 runs in the match.
It was another horrible outing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they slumped to their sixth loss in seven matches in the ongoing IPL 2024. The Faf du Plessis-led side was completely outplayed by Sunrisers Hyderabad who posted the highest team total in the history of the competition on Monday. Batting first, RCB bowlers looked completely helpless as Travis Head slammed a 39-ball ton and Heinrich Klaasen scored a fiery half-century to guide SRH to a mammoth 287/3 in 20 overs. It was the highest team total in IPL history as SRH broke their own record that they registered earlier in IPL 2024 against Mumbai Indians. As SRH batters ran riot in Bengaluru, disappointment was visible on star batter Virat Kohli's face and his reactions to the loss has gone viral on social media.
Virat Kohli has been one of the few positives in an otherwise blow hot, blow cold campaign of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024. The former Indian cricket team captain has already scored a ton and two half-centuries in six matches to lead the run-scoring charts. However, that hasn't meant that Virat Kohli has gone about without getting criticised. He has a strike-rate of 141.77 and often plays the 'anchor' role for RCB.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru was again at the receiving end due to their insipid bowling as SunRisers Hyderabad batter slammed them out of the park at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. Batting first, SRH's Travis Head slammed century in just 39 balls - the fourth fastest IPL ton ever - as SRH reached 100 in the eighth over and went past the 150-mark in the 12th over. No RCB bowler was spared as SRH launched an all out attack. Though, Head fell on 102, Heinrich Klaasen took the team forward. SRH ultimately finished on 287/3 - the highest ever IPL total.
Jasprit Bumrah produced a brilliant delivery to dismiss Virat Kohli during the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. The battle between the two Indian cricket team superstars was something that all fans were waiting for but it was the fast bowler who had the last laugh. Kohli had a somewhat shaky start to his innings and he had no answer to a sharp in-swinger from the fast bowler. The ball pitched just short of good length and shaped back rapidly to leave Kohli struggling. The star batter ended up getting a prominent inside edge on the ball and Ishan Kishan completed a diving catch behind the stumps to end his stay at the crease for just 3.
