"Sometimes it can happen", was what fast bowling legend Glenn McGrath said on Monday about India's capitulation in the World Test Championship final against Australia in London.

India suffered a crushing 209-run defeat to Australia on the fifth day of the summit clash at the Oval on Sunday. "Sometimes, it can happen like that.

Yeah, conditions in England are a lot different to what Indian cricket has been playing in. Sometimes that happens that way, it's called that bit of dressing room pressure," McGrath, who is Director of Coaching at MRF Pace Foundation, told reporters here. "Both teams haven't played a lot of Test cricket lately but that's the way it goes.

You get on a bit of a roll going into that last day, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane needed to put on a big partnership. You lose an early wicket, that can happen.

While there is intense competition between India and Pakistan on the cricket field, there is often huge adulation shared between cricketers of both the sides. The same is the case with Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir. Ex-India captain Virat Kohli has often lauded the fast bowler and the Pakistani has also admitted his respect for Kohli, the batter. In a recent video, Amir mentioned that he considers Virat Kohli and Babar Azam among his top-three favourite batters. Surprisingly, for his third choice he picked up the young Shubman Gill.
The World Test Championship final turned out to be a nightmare for Team India as they faced a 209-run defeat against Australia. In the chase of 444, the Rohit Sharma-led side was bundled out for 234 after Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland took four and three wickets respectively. Not only the bowlers but their batters too made vital contributions to the team's victory. Travis Head and Steve Smith brought up their respective hundreds and comfortably dominated the Indian bowlers. Apart from them, there was another player who also utterly impressed everyone and he was wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey.
India batter Virat Kohli put all the criticism on hold after he roared back to form during the Asia Cup 2022 with a century against Afghanistan. He continued his form in the 2022 T20 World Cup and emerged as the highest run-scorer. Later, he showed his vintage batting style and brought up his much-awaited 29th Test ton against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in March this year. His batting often gets compared to Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who is also rising as one of the most lethal batters in the world.
Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his disappointment over Rohit Sharma's dismissal in the second innings of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia. On Day 4, Australia set India a mammoth target of 444 after declaring their second innings with a score of 270/8 on the board. India captain Rohit and Shubman Gill got off to a good start before the latter was undone by a controversial catch from Cameron Green at gully. Rohit (43) stitched a brief stand with Cheteshwar Pujara (27) before throwing away his wicket, while trying to sweep Nathan Lyon.
Batting great Sunil Gavaskar came down hard on Virat Kohli following Team India's humiliating loss to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on Sunday. Kohli could only add five runs to his overnight score of 44 as Scott Boland sparked Team India's batting collapse. Boland exploited Kohli's Achilles heel as he lured him to play a cover drive. On any other day, Kohli would have opted to play against the shot but this time he couldn't control his desire to play his beloved shot. He went for the shot but only found a thick edge towards the slip, Steve Smith dived low to his right to take a stunning catch.
