Two men have appeared in court over the death of Oldham teenager Alisha Goup. Omar Choudhury, 21, and Hamidur Rahman, 23, are charged with causing death by dangerous driving after Alisha Goup was hit by a BMW while walking home from college on Rochdale Road last Thursday (February 23).

Appearing at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Monday February 27), they spoke only to confirm their names. The pair were remanded in custody, and will next appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on April 3. Alisha was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. District Judge Margaret McCormack said the case was an 'emotionally sensitive matter' and thanked the defendant's and victim's families for their behaviour in court.

She told both defendants the matter must be referred to the crown court, and set a date for the next hearing. Choudhury, of Broadway, Oldham, and Rahman, of Tilbury Street, Oldham, will next appear in court on April 3 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. READ NEXT :
