Tottenham are likely to name an unchanged side against Chelsea, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge. Antonio Conte’s side kicked off their campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over Southampton last weekend and Bridge expects the Italian coach to stick with the same XI.
Having ended last season in exceptional form, which resulted in a top four finish, there was an expectant crowd in north London, and Spurs didn’t disappoint.
Initially, it didn’t go to plan as James Ward-Prowse fired Southampton into an early lead, but a pair of headers from Eric Dier and Ryan Sessegnon put Tottenham ahead at the break.
Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane both missed great chances to put the result beyond doubt, but Conte’s side weren’t made to rue those moments as two quickfire goals in three second half minutes secured a comfortable win.
