It’s been made pretty clear that any Manchester United turnaround under Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be more of a slow evolution than an instant revolution.
The 71-year-old has a depth of experience of running a football club with OGC Nice doing well in Ligue 1 this season, but he will find himself in a different situation at United.
He will be a minority shareholder for the price of £1.3billion, although will assume sporting control. The Glazers have made their thoughts clear about the football side of the club by handing over the sporting operational reins to Ratcliffe.
