Brendan Rodgers’ incredible Old Firm derby record is giving Celtic fans some comfort amid their stuttering title defence with two fixtures against Rangers to come this season, having already won the first pair of meetings in this campaign.
The Irishman has won an astonishing 12 of his 15 matches against the Light Blues and lost just once against five different Rangers managers – Philippe Clement going the same way as Michael Beale, Steven Gerrard, Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha in the Belgian’s first encounter with the Hoops gaffer.
But even if Rodgers does manage to win the remaining two – the first at Ibrox on April 7 before the final encounter after the split at Parkhead – there might still not be any guarantees of Celtic making it three-in-a-row such has been their poor results this season against the rest of the teams in the Scottish Premiership.
That is the view of former Hibs striker and Record Sport columnist Tam McManus who told PLZ Soccer: “Rangers might go this season and lose four games to Celtic and still win the league.
