Strictly fans were 'gutted' after it was confirmed Amanda Abbington quit the BBC dance competition series. Many viewers reckoned Amanda and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice were 'potential winners' of the series.
Strictly star and host Fleur East confirmed the Sherlock actress had withdrawn from the programme on spin-off show It Takes Two.
On Monday night's show (October 23), Fleur said: "We've received the news that Amanda is not returning to Strictly." She then read out an official statement from a Strictly spokesperson, which read: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.
The show wishes her all the best for the future."
