SPFL coefficient boost sparks Turkey tussle as Celtic Champions League safety net helps top ten battle

dailyrecord.co.uk

It's been some week for the coefficient as Hearts, Hibs and Rangers all saw off heavy competition across Europe, but Turkey are on our tail.

Europa Conference League and Champions League success was the flavour of the week after Rangers saw off Swiss competition Servette to book their place in the play-off round and a reunion with PSV Eindhoven, before Hibs saw off Luzern to seal a glamour tie with Aston Villa and Hearts put Rosenborg to the sword with some last-minute drama at Tynecastle.

It meant Scotland rose the UEFA rankings in to ninth spot and with FIVE teams at the playoff stage or further, 1.8 points were added to our coefficient total.

Celtic have contributed massively to said number with their automatic qualification for the Champions League, worth 0.8 points on it's own when divided by the five Scottish clubs involved.
