Serious collision shuts main road for number of hours and leaves person badly injured

The Manchester Evening News understands a person has been left with serious injuries after a collision in Ashton-in-Makerfield this afternoon (June 26).

The incident happened around 3.30pm on Bolton Road, between Captain's Lane and Orchard Street with two vehicles said to have been involved.

Police, fire, and ambulance crews attended the scene and the road was closed for more than six hours, reopening around 10pm.

The road was closed for a long stretch between Golborne Road and Ashton town centre, with the public asked to use an alternative route.
