Scotland's opening Euro 2024 game in Germany could be switched from the 'Munich Football Arena' to the 'Franz Beckenbauer Stadium' in a classy touch for a football icon.

But it will still be held at Bayern Munich's iconic Allianz Arena. Steve Clarke's side open the European Championship in June against the hosts and also face Switzerland in Cologne and Hungary in Stuttgart.

The Euro 2024 opener will be played at the Allianz Arena, but because UEFA don't allow stadiums named after sponsors, the ground was set to be renamed the Munich Football Arena for the tournament.

However, the German FA have approached European football's governing body to change the name for the month-long duration of the tournament to the Franz Beckenbauer Stadium after an enormous outpouring of grief following the death of the legendary Der Kaiser.
