Mike Phelan believes Bruno Fernandes' position at Manchester United will be secure under Ruben Amorim. The Reds' captain has struggled for much of the season under previous boss Erik ten Hag with no goals until Wednesday night's 5-2 win over Leicester City.
Amorim's imminent arrival at Old Trafford will inevitably lead to questions over who will fit into his team. But Fernandes, a former Sporting player, lavished praise on Amorim just weeks ago.
The Sporting manager has won two league titles as well as several other major trophies in Portugal. And former Reds' coach Phelan has shared his verdict on Fernandes' role going forward under what will be a third permanent manager since he arrived at M16 in January 2020. "I think he's already spoke about him as being a terrific up-and-coming manager, and somebody he would want to work with.
So, I think Bruno's place is pretty secure! "Bruno's been probably, arguably, one of Man United's most consistent performers.
