Rangers pyro show sparks SPFL and Scottish government showdown as chiefs set for talks after Dens Park chaos

SPFL chiefs and select members of the Scottish government are poised for conversations after pyro controversy at Rangers' win over Dundee.

Philippe Clement's side romped to a 5-0 win but the huge show of flares in the away end has proven the dominant talking point.

The game was paused for 18 minutes - with kick-off already delayed due to traffic - as smoke from the array of pyrotechnics set off a fire alarm and forced the players off the pitch.

After all the stoppages and delays, the game eventually finished at 22:40. But according to BBC Scotland, it has forced the league's hierarchy and representatives of the government into talks with Police Scotland at a meeting which will be held by The Football Safety Officers Association.
