Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has noticed a confidence change in Phil Foden after the young forward admitted he had been at the 'lowest point of his career' in recent weeks.
Foden has returned to the City side after a foot injury to start three of the last four games - scoring three times and adding another assist.
He was electric at Bristol City in the FA Cup, and earned plenty of praise from his manager at full time. However, in his own post-match interview, Foden had opened up on the struggles of playing with a recurring injury and being out of form. "I feel 100 per cent fit now and comfortable so hopefully I can come back into the team and help them as much as possible," he said. "It has definitely [been frustrating], it has been one of the lowest parts of my career but everyone goes through them, it's how you react. I love to play football and when I don't I am a bit frustrated so, yeah, that is how it is." When discussing Foden in his own post-match duties, Guardiola also touched on Foden's mindset, and noted that the attitude for the 22-year-old to win back his place has been far more impressive than his goal return.
