Pep Guardiola explains Phil Foden's Man City selection vs Newcastle United

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confidently confirmed that Phil Foden is back to his best ahead of the visit of Newcastle United this lunchtime.

Foden has been in fine form for City in his last two appearances. He scored against Bournemouth last weekend before bagging a brace against Bristol City in the FA Cup in midweek.

This form comes after what Foden deemed was the 'lowest part of his career' to date after the World Cup in Qatar. Against Manchester United in January, the English winger picked up a foot injury which kept him out of the team before his return against Nottingham Forest. He explained: "The strikers scoring goals always gives you a boost. "No one had any doubt about Phil, a little bit down but he is back.
