Brendan Rodgers is reportedly interested in a Celtic reunion with winger Patrick Roberts. The 26-year-old is flying high with Sunderland and he is said to be on the radar of his old Parkhead boss.

Roberts moved to the east end of Glasgow on loan from Manchester City in January 2016 when Ronny Deila was in charge but he returned when Rodgers arrived that summer for a second stint from the Etihad.

Roberts flourished under the Irishman and even scored against his parent club Manchester City in a Champions League clash. The winger went on to have a succession of further loan spells away from the English giants before finally putting down roots at the Stadium of Light when he joined the Black Cats permanently last year.

Now the Sun say that Celtic could be back in for him, saying there is “growing interest in Patrick Roberts from Celtic and Southampton,” adding “Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers likes Sunderland ace Roberts, 26, who spent 18 months in Glasgow while he was still a Manchester City player.
