Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand does not believe that Manchester United would gain anything by signing Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.
The 21-year-old, who joined Everton from French side Lille last summer, is being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of the transfer window slamming shut in just over a fortnight's time.
United are open to strengthening their squad before the bell and would like to recruit another midfielder. It is felt that United would benefit from drafting in another defensive-midfielder to provide both cover and competition for Casemiro.
The Brazilian, currently, is the club's only out-and-out defensive-midfielder. Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat has been identified as a target for the Reds and he is reportedly keen to seal a move to M16 before the window closes on September 1.
