Nicolas Raskin Rangers injury clue as Belgium boss drops cryptic message over Ibrox return 'hope'

Belgium under-21 boss Jacky Mathijssen has hinted that Nicolas Raskin could be set for a quickfire return to the pitch when Rangers return to action.

Boss Michael Beale revealed that the former Standard Liege man had a quad issue which saw him miss the Scottish Premiership clash with Motherwell before the international break, before he then pulled out of the Red Devils' squad for the showdown with Spain.

Raskin then took to social media to update Ibrox fans and described the knock as a "small injury". Raskin impressed in recent weeks after failing to make the Viaplay Cup final starting line up against Celtic and the Belgian has bounced back from that disappointment to stake a claim for a major role for Rangers - and he will hope to make the squad when the league restarts against Dundee United.

Mathijssen admitted he expected to be able to watch the 22-year-old in action again imminently. The boss compared the knocked with the long-term absence of Yari Verschaeren.
