Nick Montgomery praised Ange Postecoglou for opening the door to the footballing world for A-League bosses as he swept into the hotseat at Hibs last night.
The Englishman has signed a three-year deal in Leith and insists he’s here for the long haul as he set his sights on bringing success back to the club after leading unfancied Central Coast Mariners to a stunning title victory down under last season.
As revealed by Record Sport two weeks ago the 41-year-old was Hibs’ top target to replace axed Lee Johnson. And he has brought his trusted assistant Sergio Raimundo and goalkeeping coach Miguel de Oliveira Miranda to Scotland while Hibees legend David Gray will remain a key part of the new management team.
Speaking for first time as Hibs boss on Monday, Montgomery admitted Postecoglou’s two titles with Celtic and success with Yokohama Marinos in Japan following spells in charge at Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar as well as the Socceroos national team has helped shine a light on A-League bosses.
