A new horror film is heading to cinemas that viewers have said is so “disturbing” it has triggered their Apple Watch “heart rate” alerts.
The Outwaters has terrified audiences in the US since it dropped in February, and horror fans in the UK will soon be able to endure it for themselves.
That’s because writer and director Robbie Banfitch has confirmed it will hit UK cinemas on April 7. The low-budget horror is filmed in the found-footage style made famous by 1999 mockumentary The Blair Witch Project, and follows four friends who encounter “menacing phenomena” while filming a music video in California’s remote Mojave Desert.
Its synopsis explains: “Their trip starts off like any other, but the group soon realises something is not right. Mysterious sounds haunt them, and when a menacing force descends, their horrifying journey into soul-shattering darkness begins.” READ MORE: Netflix fans ask ‘what the hell did I just watch’ after seeing ‘horrific’ new film The Strays The Outwaters has so far proved divisive amongst general audiences, currently holding a 52 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
