Nathan Ake felt referee Anthony Taylor judged Erling Haaland's pull on Fabinho differently to other incidents during Manchester City's defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Blues thought they had taken the lead at Anfield when Phil Foden scored from close range early in the second half, but those celebrations were cut short when Taylor signalled a VAR review.

He studied footage of Haaland pulling Fabinho's shirt in midfield and overturned the decision to give the goal, infuriating Pep Guardiola and City's players. READ MORE: The minute that summed up 20 years on City misfortune at Anfield Taylor had been close to the incident and before and after the incident had let the game flow, with the second half, in particular, an enthralling contest.

But after being instructed to go to the monitor he changed his mind, while Ake also questioned whether reviews were going too far back in play, with the incident occurring around seven seconds before the goal was scored. "For me it’s harsh, the whole game the referee has let the game go, a lot of little fouls and stuff he let it go, as soon as we score he doesn’t let it go, so it was a bit frustrating.
