The Nigeria America Football Association (NAFA) has concluded its capacity training for new coaches and players, who are expected to join their peers from other states in the second Nigeria Secondary Schools Flag Football League  (NSSFFL) next year.Following a successful outing in Ogun State, the trainers moved to Oyo State, where they held a two-day session from October 17 to 19.According to NAFA General Secretary, Lawrence Ojaideh, the Ogun State capacity building, which held at Folarin Dailey International College, was part of the body’s programme to train Nigerian students and teachers across the geo-political zones to ensure American Football and Flag Football is known in all parts of the country.“The capacity building exercise in Ogun State was successful.

NAFA has succeeded in training another set of players and coaches in the state after making its mark in Lagos State.“Folarin Dailey International School is the first school in Ogun State to volunteer to participate in the season two of the NSSFFL coming up next year.

The school also produced the  first set of coaches to undertake the NAFA BLS certification course that qualifies some of the teachers trained  to coach, officiate and manage a team.“As part of our commitment to develop American football in Nigeria, NAFA will be going to other states from this month to train players and coaches at  the grassroots,” he said.

Ojaideh added that NAFA wants to give American football a national outlook by ensuring that other states in Nigeria participate in the NSSFFL next year and junior national team screening.Follow Us
